THESIS

VELLUM

Initial explorations of this thesis were focused on the power of individuals to stake claim over a space or object. Specifically taking a look at a common mundane object such as a folding chair and how this object in its very defined uses restricts other forms of performances. This chair aims to give individual freedoms of expression through allowing personal modification to a seemingly mundane folding chair. Giving each individual a unique experience despite the universal experiences of a folding chair.
EXPLORATIONS

This collage explores how by intertwining program and architectural spaces in a way to generate low stakes social conflict. New performances can emerge out of the recognition of others.
SITE

An adaptive reuse project located in Tumwater, Washington. Utilizing the abandoned Olympia brewery complex. With a goal of revitalizing the once beautiful downtown Tumwater in order to offer a space that encourages individual expression and builds community.
DESIGN

This design seeks to blur the lines between programmatic spaces as well as imbue the space with multi affordance elements. Creating a space of constant social conflict that promotes a social recognition of others and their performances.
